[Midwest Made] Blog Series Featuring Create Good Go.

[Midwest Made] Blog Series: In 2020, I’m dedicating a series of blog posts highlighting unique Midwest-based businesses.

[Midwest Made] Concept – Being raised in the Midwest, we’re all a little Midwest Made, right? It’s a way of life, rooted in kindness, humility and hard work. Midwestern roots ground us to this unique way of living, where we understand the value of a hard day’s work and know we are serving a purpose greater than ourselves.

People who choose to live, work & raise their families in the Midwest inspire me. I am intrigued by entrepreneurs who start their business in the Midwest and find unique ways to live and work in this little part of the world. They’re Midwest-based, they’re Midwest Made. I’m dedicating several of my 2020 blog posts to highlighting these Midwest businesses and people.

“Be the Buffalo”

I recently read an interesting article that talked about how a herd of cattle and herd of buffalo react differently when they know a storm is approaching. The gist of the story was that when a storm is coming in, cows will instinctively run away from the storm thinking that’s the best approach. What ends up happening when they do this is that they run with the storm, essentially prolonging their exposure to the storm. In contrast, when a herd of buffalo sense a storm rolling in, they will run straight at it and get through it quicker. Continue reading → “Be the Buffalo”

A Word for 2020

It’s the last day of 2019. The last day of a decade. Tomorrow marks the start of something new – a new year, a new decade, new possibilities, new adventures. Around this time last year, I listened to a podcast about finding a word for how to live out your year. The word I chose for 2019 was TRY as I knew there would be so many new things in my first full year of business. It was a bit of a mindset thing for me, a lot of things I would take on in 2019 would be new, so wanted to just TRY. TRY to experiment with different avenues to see what worked, what didn’t work, etc. I reflected on that word a lot throughout the year. I tried a lot of things this past year. I failed on a lot of things last year too. Ideas I had that didn’t work, but that’s okay, it was all information for me as I navigated forward. All in all, TRY was a great word for last year’s experiences. Continue reading → A Word for 2020

Who do you want to be in the next decade?

There are many things I love about this time of year, but likely my favorite is the opportunity to reflect on the past year and dream for the upcoming year. It’s a time to be thankful for the abundance of gifts (and learning opportunities) that the year brought and a time for thinking about what’s next. This year, I’ve had the good fortune of engaging in several impactful small groups. The magic that happens in community with others is quite beautiful. With 2020 coming up, one of my colleagues posed the question: “Who do you want to be in the next decade?” I’ve not been able to get that question off my mind and really putting some intentional thought into what I want to become and how I want to show up in the next ten years has had me doing some deep thinking.

First off, I think it’s important to reflect on who I was in this past decade. There was a lot of BIG LIFE changes that occurred! Continue reading → Who do you want to be in the next decade?

One Year In: A Letter To Me

WOOHOO – Celebrate those good times, right?! It’s so hard to believe that this week marks the one year mark of launching my business. It’s been a fast, furious and fun year – with lots of learning curves built in. Learning curves not only from a business perspective, but I’d say even more from a personal view.

The other day I heard that Brad Paisley song, “Letter to Me” and it had me thinking about this past year and my whole life, really. There are so many instances where diving into the “unknown” of a new adventure has left me a bit freaked out.

Will I fail? Will I succeed? How is this going to go? Will I know what to do or say?
